Curriculum, subjects, the CBSE assessment scheme, and the working day at Kavirayani — all the things you would want to know about how the school operates.
Kavirayani follows the curriculum prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. NCERT textbooks are followed across subjects, with supplementary reference material chosen by subject teachers under the school’s curriculum committee.
The school operates from Kindergarten through Class X. Class X students sit the All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) conducted by CBSE at the end of the academic year.
Building literacy, numeracy, and curiosity.
CBSE-prescribed subjects culminating in the AISSE.
The school follows the CBSE-prescribed assessment scheme, with continuous internal evaluation through the year and a final examination at the end of each academic session.
Assessment at the primary stage is largely informal and continuous — through classwork, homework, oral participation, projects, and short tests. Grades are reported at the end of each term, alongside qualitative remarks from the class teacher.
Internal assessment of 40 marks across the year (Periodic Tests, Multiple Assessment, Subject Enrichment, Portfolio) is combined with an Annual Examination of 60 marks based on the full year’s syllabus.
Internal assessment of 20 marks — broken into Periodic Test (5), Multiple Assessment (5), Subject Enrichment (5), and Portfolio (5) — combined with a Board examination of 80 marks. Class X candidates appear for the AISSE conducted by CBSE.
For science subjects in Classes IX and X, the 80-mark board paper includes a 20-mark practical / internal component, in line with CBSE’s scheme for the academic year.
School is closed on Sundays and gazetted public holidays. Term breaks and vacations are listed on the academic calendar.
The school is staffed by 20 teachers — the Principal, the Vice-Principal, eleven Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), six Primary Teachers (PRTs), and a Physical Education Teacher. The teacher-to-section ratio is maintained at 1:1, so each section is led by a dedicated class teacher.
Teaching staff hold the qualifications prescribed by the Central Board — B.Ed. or D.Ed. across the board, with a number of subject teachers also holding postgraduate degrees (M.Sc. or M.A.) in their teaching area. A Special Educator and a Counsellor / Wellness Teacher are part of the staff strength.
The complete staff list, with names, designations, qualifications, and subjects, is published in our Public Disclosure.
